Allegations of Sexual Battery Against Vin Diesel Surface in Lawsuit by Former Assistant

In a recent lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, a former assistant to actor Vin Diesel has made serious accusations of sexual battery against the renowned Fast & Furious star. The lawsuit, filed during the filming of Fast Five in the fall of 2010, claims that Vin Diesel sexually assaulted the assistant while she was employed by his company, One Race.

Vin Diesel’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, vehemently denied the allegations, stating that Diesel denies the claim entirely. Freedman highlighted that this accusation, made by a former 9-day employee, was the first time Diesel had heard of it in over 13 years. He also cited evidence contradicting these “outlandish allegations.”

According to the lawsuit obtained by Vanity Fair, plaintiff Asta Jonasson, a recent film school graduate at the time, was hired to assist Vin Diesel during the filming of Fast Five in Atlanta. Her duties included organizing events, accompanying Diesel, and ensuring his proximity for photographs at various functions.

The lawsuit details an alleged incident in September 2010 when Jonasson was asked to wait in Diesel’s suite at a hotel. After others left, the lawsuit claims Diesel forcibly grabbed her, leading to distressing physical advances despite her pleas to stop. The assistant, feeling trapped, reportedly escaped momentarily only for the situation to escalate when Diesel continued to assault her.

The lawsuit further claims that after a distressing encounter, Jonasson was terminated from her job by Samantha Vincent, Diesel’s sister and president of One Race. The assistant allegedly felt her dismissal was a result of resisting Diesel’s advances, leaving her emotionally shattered and questioning her professional worth.

The legal action includes charges of sexual battery, gender-based discrimination, emotional distress, hostile work environment, wrongful termination, and retaliation. It also accuses Diesel and his production company of attempting a cover-up.

Jonasson, initially bound by a nondisclosure agreement, remained silent for years until laws like the Speak Out Act and California’s AB2777 empowered her to file claims. Inspired by the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, she sought justice for the suffering she purportedly endured at the hands of Vin Diesel and One Race.

Vin Diesel, recognized for his roles in the Fast & Furious franchise and as the voice of Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, has long been involved in producing these blockbuster films alongside his sister, Samantha.

The assistant, Asta Jonasson, later pursued a career in the entertainment industry, taking on roles as an assistant and production coordinator, among others.
