Dua Lipa’s CVS Notebook Holds 97 Musical Gems: Dua Lipa Reveals She ‘Wrote 97 Songs’ in a ‘Random Notebook’ from CVS for Her Upcoming Album

In a surprising revelation on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dua Lipa disclosed her unconventional approach to crafting her upcoming album, having handwritten a staggering 97 songs in a humble notebook from CVS. The pop sensation, known for hits like “Don’t Start Now,” shared insights into her creative process, shedding light on the unexpected source of inspiration.

“I started writing for this album in 2021, and I just wanted to write my ideas down,” Lipa explained to host Jimmy Kimmel. “So, I went down to CVS, and I just bought a random notebook. Had I have known how important that book would’ve been, maybe I would’ve gotten a more fancy one.”

Despite her international fame, Lipa expressed her love for CVS and the thrill of buying unnecessary items. Displaying the actual notebook on the show, she emphasized its significance, stating, “It’s got every single song I’ve written for this album. I wrote 97 songs.”

The CVS relic has become more than just a collection of lyrics; it has evolved into a cherished artifact for Lipa. “Only because I have this, it’s now become kind of this relic of mine, in a way,” she added, acknowledging the unexpected value she found in a commonplace notebook.

While Lipa admitted feeling “petrified” that the book could be stolen, she remained committed to her preferred method of handwriting. Despite the immense quantity of songs, she humorously confessed that “about 80 of them” didn’t meet her high standards. Lipa, however, showcased her dedication to perfection, explaining, “Every song on this album and any of the other records that I’ve made, I’ve gone in and I’ve rewritten it over and over again until I felt like it was perfect.”

The Grammy winner revealed a newfound confidence in her songwriting and performance abilities, allowing her to delve deeper into her creative process. “I feel proud of it,” Lipa exclaimed, highlighting her growth as an artist.

Lipa teased her album’s first single, “Houdini,” in November, and the anticipation continues to build with the announcement of the second single, “Training Season,” set to release on Feb. 15. As fans eagerly await the album, the revelation of Lipa’s unique journey from a CVS notebook to a collection of 97 handcrafted songs adds an intriguing layer to her artistic narrative.
